WICHITA, Kan. –The Urban League of Kansas has selected Cargill Meat Solutions as the 2007 recipient of its Equal Opportunity Corporate Diversity Award. Each year, the award recognizes one business in the Wichita community that understands, embraces and promotes diversity in the workplace.
“We applaud Cargill for all they do not only here in Kansas, but around the world to empower all people in attaining economic self-sufficiency through job training, job placement and career development,” said Brian Black, president, Urban League of Kansas. “Cargill has a legacy of exemplifying diversity leadership skills in the community, and we are proud to name Cargill as this year’s recipient of our Equal Opportunity Corporate Diversity Award.”
Cargill’s commitment to diversity is highlighted by three programs: a Valuing Differences Recruiting Strategy, a Valuing Differences Team and a Cargill Supplier Diversity Initiative. These programs support Cargill’s overall mission to be the global leader in the food and agricultural business.
“Every single employee at Cargill is recognized for who they are,” said Tom Hayes, president, Cargill Meat Solutions. “Their unique talents and special characteristics are celebrated as part of the tapestry that makes Cargill who we are. On behalf of the 3,700 Cargill employees in Kansas, we thank the Urban League for their work and for this award.”
