Cargill introduces one-of-a-kind tracking system for its premium brands

WICHITA, Kan. – Cargill has added another step in its commitment to providing quality and consistent premium beef products for its customers. The most recent technology development is an online tracking system, which helps verify the 20-plus key attributes of a carcass. The online tracking system paired with the latest camera vision grading technology provides Cargill with an unmatched technology combination that is used for the selection of Cargill’s premium brands.

The tracking system retains data as it is captured through the camera vision grading process. Two key attributes the vision grading process identifies for premium beef selection are ribeye area and vision yield grade. The information is saved and can be used to verify products’ acceptance into either the Sterling Silver® Premium Meats or AngusPride® Premium Beef brands.

Twelve years ago, Cargill was the first U.S. beef processor to introduce camera vision grading technology. Today, Cargill continues to believe in the technology and upgrades the system as updates become available. By the end of 2007, all of Cargill’s North American fed-cattle plants will be equipped with the latest camera vision grading technology and will use the online tracking system.
