WICHITA, Kan. – Tom Hayes, president of Cargill Meat Solutions, will relocate from Wichita to Cargill’s corporate offices in Minneapolis June 1 to become vice president of plant operations for global food and engineering, working with Cargill’s texturizers, salt, deicing, malt, cocoa, health and food technologies, and dry milling businesses.
Bill Rupp will replace Hayes as president of Cargill Meat Solutions in Wichita. Rupp will retain his Cargill Beef leadership responsibilities.
An engineer by background, Hayes will lead Cargill’s Engineering Centers of Expertise. The new assignment is part of changes to Cargill’s global plant operations function to reflect the company’s growth.
“My family and I will miss Wichita and the friends we have made here the last 10 years,” said Hayes, who joined Cargill in 1981 and worked for the company’s soybean processing and corn milling businesses before joining the meat operations 20 years ago. “Bill Rupp will provide the continuity in leadership to carry Cargill Meat Solutions forward. ”Rupp joined Cargill’s meat businesses in 1983 and has been based in Wichita since 1995.
“This is a great opportunity for Tom Hayes at Cargill in Minneapolis, and we will miss him being part of the team in Wichita,” Rupp said. “I’m looking forward to picking up where he left off and maintaining Cargill’s leadership role in the meat business.”
Also effective June 1, John Keating will become business leader for Cargill Regional Beef and continue as leader of Cargill Case Ready. In the Regional Beef Role, Keating will replace Mike Coleman, who is based in Wyalusing, Pa. Coleman will retire in July 2008 and assist Keating in the transition to Cargill Regional Beef and the integration of a business in Fresno, Calif., acquired a year ago. Keating joined Cargill in 1987 and has managed various meat businesses including Cargill Beef Australia, Cargill Food Distribution and Cargill Case Ready.
