Ottumwa, IA - Friday, June 20, 2003 - At a press conference earlier today, Bridge View Center, Inc. announced a $500,000 gift from Cargill, Incorporated and its red meat business, Excel Corporation to build a new events center.
The gift from Cargill and Excel is for the "bricks and mortar" phase of construction of the events center. The gift is perfectly timed as the Design and Construction Committee for the events center is about to interview for an architectural design team for the project.
Jeff Fetterman, Manager of Cargill's corn refining complex in Eddyville, and Randy Zorn, Plant Manager for Excel's meat processing facility in Ottumwa, will make the presentation to Bridge View Center.
"At Cargill and Excel we feel the construction of the new events center will help to attract and retain educated, diverse and quality people to southeast Iowa," said Fetterman. "The Bridge View Center will be a vehicle to help build this area into a regional hub. We also see this as a chance to strengthen opportunities for those of us who are living, working and raising our families here."
Through volunteerism, partnerships and grant making, Cargill and Excel contribute annually to a number of civic and charitable organizations to help fulfill the company's vision to be the global leader in nourishing people.
