Excel, Cargill Cares Committee Announce Recent Grants

Committee contributes more than $100,000 to local non-profit organizations
WICHITA, KS, September 20, 2002 - Local Cargill businesses and Excel, a Cargill subsidiary, announce grants totaling more than $100,000 to local organizations. The grants include: $20,000 to the Wichita Guadalupe Clinic; $20,000 to support Inter-Faith Ministries homeless shelters in Wichita; $25,000 to the Music Theatre of Wichita; and $40,000 to Wichita State University's Jason Project designed to engage students in science education.
"It is extremely important to both Cargill and Excel to address community needs for our more than 800 employees, customers, and their families," said Scott Eilert, director of pork research and development at Excel here. "We are pleased to announce the most recent round of grant awardees and hope that the dollars will help make a difference in the lives of many of our deserving neighbors."
This contribution is sponsored by businesses that make up the Excel, Cargill Cares Council. They include: Cargill Oilseeds, Horizon Flour Milling, LLC, Excel's Beef, Pork, Case Ready and EFD businesses and the Cargill Partnership Fund. The Partnership Fund is a corporate program that matches contributions made by local Cargill facilities to support special projects and services in their communities.
